Where Every Child
Is Told They Matter Before They Can Read.
For over two decades, Alice Brown Early Learning Center has given Garden City families a place where young minds are met with patience, purpose, and the kind of attention that changes trajectories.
Small groups mean every child is seen, heard, and challenged at the right level — not buried in a crowd.
02
Our curriculum honors play as serious work. Children learn through exploration, not worksheets.
03
Parents are partners, not customers. We communicate openly and build trust, day after day.
About Us
Founded on the belief that the first years shape
everything that follows.
Alice Brown Early Learning Center grew from a simple conviction: young children deserve an environment that treats their curiosity with the seriousness it deserves. What began as a small home-based program in Garden City has grown into a trusted community institution — but the philosophy has never changed.
Our directors and teachers are selected for warmth as much as credentials. We look for people who understand that a three-year-old's question about why the sky is blue deserves the same respect as a ten-year-old's essay on the same subject. That respect is the foundation of everything we build.

Our Approach
Learning that feels like living.
We don't prepare children for the future by making the present feel like preparation. We help them live fully in the now — and trust that the skills they need will follow naturally.
01
Cognitive Development
Problem-solving, pattern recognition, and early literacy emerge through hands-on experiences — building, sorting, storytelling, and questioning. Children aren't told what to think; they're given the tools to think for themselves.
02
Social-Emotional Growth
Naming feelings, sharing space, navigating conflict — these are the real skills. Our teachers model emotional literacy every day, helping children build the self-awareness and empathy that no standardized test can measure.
03
Creative Expression
Art, music, movement, and dramatic play aren't extras — they're how young minds make sense of the world. Our studios and outdoor spaces are designed to invite creation, not compliance.

Community
A village isn't a slogan here — it's the operating model.
We believe that children thrive when the adults around them are connected. That's why family communication isn't an afterthought — it's built into every day. Daily updates, monthly gatherings, and open-door policies keep parents in the loop and involved.
Our community extends beyond the classroom, too. We partner with local families, participate in Garden City events, and maintain relationships with pediatricians, libraries, and community organizations that support the children in our care.

"We visited three preschools before finding Alice Brown. The difference was immediate — the teachers knew each child by name on day one, the space felt like a home, and our son came home excited every single afternoon. That's not something you find everywhere."
